Senior Solicitor/Associate – Commercial Litigation (Edinburgh or Glasgow) – 4 – 6 years PQE

Our Dispute Resolution team is ranked in both Chambers and Legal 500 and has a particular focus on real estate litigation but with a board range of cases in Sheriff Courts across Scotland; the Court of Session and the Commercial Court; and mediation and arbitration. We are seeking an ambitious commercial litigator to join our established team. Ideal candidates will have experience of running their own cases in the Sheriff Court and the Court of Session and will also have the opportunity to work as part of a supportive team on more complex litigation cases. We are keen to hear from solicitors who are commercially aware, self-motivated and who are strong team players.
The role is in either Edinburgh or Glasgow but the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with partners and senior colleagues in both our offices. We believe that being on-site is valuable, although operate a flexible working policy. Client contact and business development are part of the role.
Overall Purpose
- Dealing with all commercial litigation/dispute resolution matters for Davidson Chalmers clients.
- Providing advice and support as required for other departments.
- Providing cover for Dispute Resolution Partner absences (e.g. business or court commitments, holidays, illness).
Principal Accountabilities
- Handling all relevant commercial litigation transactions as directed by the Dispute Resolution Partners, including Court of Session and Sheriff Court litigation, Lands Tribunal and Land Court cases, Planning Inquiries, Arbitrations, Mediations, and ADR hearings.
- All relevant Court, Tribunal and other appearances, including as necessary instruction of Counsel.
- All relevant drafting of court and other tribunal pleadings, and otherwise as required.
- All advice and support in contentious issues for Davidson Chalmers Stewart clients and for other teams.
- Preparation and updating of relevant litigation styles.
- All relevant legal research and updating in connection with 1 to 4 above.
- All other related legal work as required.
- Supporting the Dispute Resolution Partners with supervision and management of less experienced team members, including trainees.
- Supporting the Dispute Resolution Partners in business development initiatives and activities, including attending events organised for such purposes.
- Preparation and presentation of seminars and training as required.
