Uplift UK Successful in Judicial Review
Date: 30/01/2025 | DCS News, Energy & Natural Resources, Environmental
Davidson Chalmers Stewart and our client Uplift UK received the Opinion of the Court of Session with delight today. The team, which is comprised of our key dispute resolution and environmental solicitors, is extremely pleased to learn that the Court has decided to reduce the relevant consents given by the UK Government to permit the development of the Rosebank oil field.
The oil and gas developers were given consent for Rosebank by the previous UK Government despite warnings from scientific experts, conservation organisations, and opposition from hundreds of climate NGOs and grassroots groups.
Uplift’s mission is to support efforts to transition away from oil and gas production in the UK and, as their legal advisers, we are proud to have been able to support their valuable work.
Laura Tainsh, Head of Environment, said: “We could not be happier with this outcome, which is due in part to the tireless efforts of our team at Davidson Chalmers Stewart and our appointed Counsel. This successful Judicial Review has highlighted the Government’s failure towards our country’s Net Zero efforts and this is an important decision in the fight against climate change and we applaud the determination of Uplift towards creating a greener UK.”
